Many of us think of snoring as something to not be overly concerned about-if you think this, change your way of thinking now. Unfortunately, frequent, loud snoring may be a sign of sleep apnea, which is a common and potentially serious disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts as you sleep. It is important to distinguish between snoring and sleep apnea so that you can get the best treatment available without waiting any longer.
The initial consultation with Dr. Goel includes a full review of the disease through evaluation of the patient as well as sleep studies available for review. This consultation allows the patient to explain their issue and convey what is most important to them, in addition to any concerns and or/questions that the patient may have. Once Dr. Goel completely understands the patients concerns, she will then present her findings to the patient. From there, Dr. Goel will devise a strategy that will treat the source of the problem rather than treating only the symptoms. She will discuss pros and cons of the treatment and oral appliances. The treatment proposed by Dr. Goel is planned in a way to result in the maximum medical improvement. Dr. Goel prefers to do the least invasive treatment. Working closely with each patient, Dr. Goel will develop an individualized plan of treatment for the patient.
